South Tyrolean Christmas markets

Glorenza Christmas Market

Compared to other Christmas markets in South Tyrol, Advent in Glurns lasts only one weekend, usually, the longest weekend coinciding with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 8 December. This might be the reason that it attracts thousands of visitors to the small medieval town each year.

Authentic, hushed, calm, intriguing and with numerous natural products – these are the characteristics that identify the small Christmas market in Glorenza. It is held within the imposing and well-preserved medieval walls and has a unique pre-Christmas charm. The setting of the arcades and the main square is simply romantic. Both artisans from South Tyrol and those coming from Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic display their traditional hand-made products and together create a colourful mix of stalls filled with amazing gift ideas.

The different groups of musicians and choirs with their Christmas songs together with the traditional representation of the Glurns’ theater company ensure intimate and memorable moments. The scent of gingerbread, baked apples, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine fills the streets and entice visitors to stop and enjoy the delicacies.

If you want to discover advent in the smallest city of South Tyrol, you should already try to find the right accommodation in Glurns, where you can spend a very good time within the imposing medieval walls.

In 2021 the Glorenza Christmas Market will not take place
