Medieval Christmas in Chiusa

What is held every year in the town of artists - Chiusa in the Isarco Valley - is a totally unusual Christmas market able to fascinate young and old alike. It is not by chance that it is also called “Medieval Christmas”. When strolling down the streets of the town, one can come across night watchmen, fire-eaters, jugglers and knights. That is because the “Medieval Christmas” in Chiusa accompanies visitors in a journey back in time to the remote Middle Ages!

The Chiusa Christmas Market is held every weekend during Advent and exudes an incredible sensation of quiet and meditation. The street lighting is turned off during the Christmas Market. The town streets are illuminated by the warm and encircling light of candles and lanterns. Carvers, felt craftsmen, jewellers and bakers offer visitors their local wares in about 20 stalls. Gospel choirs, wind instrument musicians and drummers show off their musical talents, night watchmen stroll down the streets and tell ancient stories, and fire-eaters captivate the public, and not only the children.
